This series consists of material pertaining to the history of the General Synod's Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary Society (WHFMS). There is a comprehensive, handwritten, chart detailing the history of the WHFMS from 1875 through 1930. In addition to information about the WHFMS, it contains information about the Women's Missionary Society of the United Lutheran Church in America (ULCA). There is no indication of what year it was written, but the author was Flora Prince. The chart is in good condition and legible. There are two written histories of the WHFMS. An Historical Sketch of the Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary Society of the General Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church appears to be the text of an address given in May 1899 by WHFMS historian Emma B. Scholl to mark the 20th anniversary of the WHFMS. The other, These Forty Years: A Brief History of the Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary Society of the General Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church by Mrs. J.F. Seebach, examines the society's 40-year history. There are additional pamphlets that pertain to the beginning of the WHFMS, its organizational structure, and general overviews of WHFMS work. Other material includes an item pertaining to the history of the WHFMS of the Evangelical Synod of Miami (Ohio), and typewritten lists of General Synod missionaries and what appears to be their dates of birth, General Synod historical leaflets, and past presidents of the General Synod and ULCA women's missionary societies for 1908 to 1962. The records are arranged chronologically. At the end of the microfilm reel that includes this series, there is one additional publication from GS 16/6 Non-Society Publications, titled "Pictures and Portraits in Foreign Mission Fields of the General Synod, 1893."
